CEO and Co-Founder
William Cherniak is the CoFounder, Board Chair, and CEO of Bridge to Health USA which he co-founded after starting Bridge To Health in Canada where he served as an Executive Director for 8 years, and as Board Chair since 2019. Dr Cherniak is passionate about Global Health and Sustainable Healthcare. Through his work and charities, he is dedicated to empowering communities and helping local organizations build capacity to improve the life and health of underserved populations. To date, Bridge to Health organizations have provided medical and dental care to more than 45,000 patients with the help of 150 volunteers.
Dr. Cherniak is an Emergency Room Medical Doctor and currently practices at Markham Stouffville Hospital. He has had research published in the New England Journal of Medicine, the Lancet, Academic Medicine, PLOS ONE and given numerous speeches in Europe and North America on global health and development. He teaches at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine, Northwestern University and, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
Dr. Cherniak holds a Master of Public Health degree from John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Calgary, and completed his residency at the University of Toronto. He also holds Bachelor of Science degree for the University of Western Ontario.
